Isaiah Kehinde Dairo, a humble, gentle and a very polite manwhotoday is and who forever may be holding the hegemony of theJujuempire was born in 1930 at Offa in Northern Nigeria.ikdairo1.jpg -15.5 KThis genius who brought Yoruba's indigenousJuju tonation-wide recognition attended the CMS School at Offa foronlytwo years after which financial strains forced him out. Incompanyof his retiring father who served the Nigerian RailwayCorporationas a carpenter for many years, he left Offa forIjebu-Ijesha - hishometown. The year was 1937. Shortly before theywere to leave Offasomething remarkable happened: the father drawingon his carpentryskill made a drum for young Dairo. Little could itbe guessed thatsuch a gift summarised his whole mission on earth.Isaiah was sofond of this drum that he would not part with it -early in themorning, at meal time, going to fetch water or doingany otherthing his drum was beside him. At Ijebu-Ijesha, he becamea barberafter some months of training. When he was not busy atbarbing, hewas on his drum so much that his father was alarmed. Atevenings hewould go and watch his predecessors of Juju music atplay. Thesewere Orioke, Oladele Oro and Mike - all of whom werethen based atIjebu-Ijesha. From the knowledge I K gained from hisfather as acarpenter, he made drum after drum for himself. Not longafter, hesucceeded in gathering some boys to make up a band. OneTaiye Igesewas the captain. This was in 1942. The band soon brokeup . Dairowho afterwards was to become the most popular ofNigerianmusicians, went to Ede as an Osomalo - a pedestrian clothsellerfrom one locality to the other. He did this for four yearsafterwhich he became a road worker for six months. When he saw thatpayswere not regular, he became a labourer clearing cocoa farms atOkoApara near Oshogbo. At Oshogbo I K heard rumours abouttheconstruction of the Queen's College, Ede and of the EdeWaterSupply Scheme. Soon after, he was at Ede working intheseundertakings under Cappa and D'alberto. Wages then ranged froml/9dto 2s daily. Kehinde made a little of savings at Ede and withthishe came to Ibadan. At Ibadan, he again worked with CappaandD'alberto who were then busy on the University of Ibadan. Thiswasthe place where I K experienced the greatest hardship. Hecarriedblocks upon blocks on his bare head so much that these shovea ringon this head. He was, however, relieved of this heavy labourwhenhe was made a carpenter. Pays there were within the range ofl/9dand 2/3d daily. I K indeed did much of labourer work to earnaliving: to free himself from the fetters of inherited poverty.Whatan encouragement to some of us! If Isaiah had not inheritedwealth, and if he had none thrown to him, he was bent on achievingone. Andthis he has done. Kehinde did not at any time leave hisdrumbehind. At day, he did his manual labour; at night he playedwithOjoge Daniel - a Juju musician based at Ibadan. Ojoge soonstoppedhim and I K sought fresh avenues. Jobless he roamed for sometimeuntil advised by one Enoch to work with Hausa labourersinproducing gravels for road. In those days labourer work wasmuchvalued and before one was taken he must have, at least, seentheforeman - to offer some sort of bribe. This was probably theonlycertificate required for entry. Having wandered so long, I Kfelthomesick. Twelve years had elapsed since he left home and hehadyet nothing. So with only a sixpence a guitar and carpentrytools,he reached his place of birth. With nothing but confidence, heformed his first band. The year: 1957. They were all ten. Thebandwent by the name Morning Star Orchestra. They were invitedtomarriage ceremonies, burials, etc. toplay.http://bbpiratesradio.over-blog.com/article-i-k-dairo-m-b-e-and-his-blue-spots-56258807.html

Apostle T.O OBADARE 1.0.2

Obadare, Timothy Oluwole 1930-2013 Christ Apostolic Church(Aladura), World Soul-Winning Evangelistic Ministry NigeriaIntroduction Ogoni fun Olorun l’oke orun. Mo tun wi leekan si peogo ni fun Olorunl’oke orun. E jeki a gbadura (Glory be to God inheaven. And I sayonce again, glory be to God in heaven. Shall wepray? This sloganechoed over the Nigerian airwaves, especially insouthwesternNigeria, for close to four decades. Each time itechoed, those whowere familiar with it easily identified the voiceof Apostle (Dr.)Timothy Oluwole Obadare, one of the indigenousprophets of the land, who was the General Evangelist of the ChristApostolic Church (CAC)(Worldwide); the Executive Director of WorldSoul-WinningEvangelistic Ministry (WOSEM) and the President oftheInterdenominational Ministers’ Association of Nigeria(IMA).Formerly of The Apostolic Church (TAC), he worked with thechurchfor a period of four years, 1953 to 1957, before he wasbroughtinto the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) by Apostle JosephAyodeleBabalola in 1957. Having joined the CAC, he worked with theChurchuntil his death on March 21, 2013: a period of fifty-sixyears.Birth and Early Background Missionary Christianity was thefirstbrand of the faith that came into Nigeria. Years after, thereaction of Nigerians to this form of Christianity (especiallyinthe southwest of the country) produced other expressions ofthefaith. First was that of the Ethiopian Churches which occurredfrom1888 to 1917; the second produced the African IndigenousChurchesotherwise referred to as Aladura Churches; while the thirdgaverise to the Pentecostal and Charismatic Churches. Withinthesouth-western zone of Nigeria otherwise known asYorubaland, another reaction inspired a handful of indigenouscharismaticfigures or prophets who laid claim to the call of God.Prominentamong these was Apostle Joseph Ayodele Babalola, whoseministry inlatter days blossomed into the Christ Apostolic Church.Whilewestern missionaries introduced Christianity into Nigeria, thecredit of contextualising, that is adapting it to theAfricanmilieu so that it would reflect the aspirations of Africans, goesto these indigenous churches and their prophets, many ofwhomdramatically demonstrated the power of God in theirministries.Such a man was Apostle Joseph Ayodele Babalola, whosechurch, theCAC, became a force to be reckoned with within NigerianChristendomand continues to be so to this day. Babalola and DavidOdubanjo ledthe CAC for some time before they both passed away in1959.However, shortly before Babalola’s death, he brought intothechurch a young evangelist who would later propel it togreaterheights. This young evangelist became widely known in lateryearsas Prophet Timothy Oluwole Obadare. His ministrycontributedimmeasurably to the expansion of the CAC. TimothyOluwole’s date ofbirth is uncertain. While some documents have 1925as his birthdate, others assert that he was born in the year 1930.The 1930date seems more likely as more documents allude to thisdate thanthe 1925 date. He was born at Ise-Ilesa, in the presentOsun Stateof Nigeria, to Pastor and Mrs David and Felicia Obadareof theApostolic Church of Nigeria. His father David was initiallyafarmer before he was called to be a minister of God, whilehismother Felicia was a petty trader. Obadare’s family couldbedescribed as ecclesiastical or Levite, as his four brotherswereall ministers of God and his only sister was married toaclergyman. Timothy’s father later relocated to Oke-Eso,Ilesa,where he continued in the service of God as a pastor inhisdenomination..
